Alguazas opens a chapel of Perpetual Adoration, the second in the Diocese of Cartagena (06/06/2019)

The Diocese of Cartagena has a new chapel of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration, which is located in the chapel of the Purísima de Alguazas.

Last Friday, the Bishop of Cartagena, Bishop José Manuel Lorca Planes, presided at the Eucharist in the afternoon at the parish of San Onofre de Alguazas.

At the end of the celebration, Bishop Lorca moved the Blessed Sacrament from the parish church to the hermitage.

From that moment, in this small hermitage, in which only Sunday Mass is celebrated at 9:00 am, the Blessed Sacrament will remain exposed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, thanks to the commitment of 300 volunteers who, as Maria Martha Leavy, coordinator of the chapel, "donate their time to care for the Blessed Sacrament".

These worshipers are divided into shifts of one hour a week, except during the night, which shifts are two hours.

Those interested in being part of this group of volunteers can fill out the form they will find in the chapel.

For Leavy, this is a place "where to meet Jesus and also for those who do not believe and want to find a moment of peace", at all times taken care of by the worshipers, people who form "an infinite chain of prayer and take care of the chapel" "

The hermitage of La Purisima is located on the main road of the old town, located within a garden area.

In the Diocese of Cartagena, in addition to this Alguazas chapel, you can also adore the Blessed Sacrament in an uninterrupted way in the Chapel of St. James the Apostle of Murcia, which is located in the Episcopal Palace, open to the faithful for more than 10 years. .
