The Day Centre Alguazas opens next Monday, October 3 after several years of waiting (30/09/2016)

Blas Ruipérez, Mayor of Alguazas, this morning visited the Day Centre next to the Councillor for Social Services, Consuelo Assisi, facing his next start on Monday 3 October.

The current government had been fighting for several years in opposition and since May 2015 as a government to achieve its opening.

The alderman of the municipality of Alguazas and his team have always treated this service as a priority for older people with special needs, demanding this facility in the town, so their demands and insistence to the regional administration have continued to achieve " what is necessary for the elderly of our people and their families ", in the words of Mayor.

It is recalled that last January counseling responsible agreed with the city to open this center in June this year, but finally, after many complaints from the Consistory the Day Center opens in October, four months later than promised by CARM.

The works of the Day Centre Alguazas were completed in May 2009, with a capacity of 25 seats, in which a staff composed of 8 professionals to address them, and it already has an equipment valued at 60,000 € would be needed.

Since then the center has been fully prepared for immediate start, failing to solve the bidding process by the Autonomous Community.

"The Day Centre has been closed despite being ready for operation for years, so the council has had to invest time and money on maintenance and care, as was deteriorating disuse," says Mayor Alguazas, Blas Angel Ruipérez.

The units are divided into two floors and has a reception, outdoor patio, living room, rehabilitation room, offices for medical and address of the center, toilets and changing rooms, elevator and other ancillary rooms.

He also noted that "after much work we can count on the service, but only have been brought sleeps 8, so I urge the CARM to expand the number of vacancies, as it is a center with a capacity for 25 people, and we would avoid many families had to seek this service outside Alguazas ".

"Opening Day Centre is a reality," says the Mayor.
