Agriculture will invest more than 260,000 euros to destine for agricultural use the treated water in the Alguazas WWTP (06/12/2016)

The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and the Environment has given the green light to the granting of a subsidy to make available to the Community of Irrigators Water Heritage of Alguazas the purified water of the Sewage Treatment Plant (WWTP) of the locality.

Water Director Andrés Martínez said that the objective of this action is "to reduce water resources to the community of irrigators, through the use of wastewater regenerated in the WWTP."

The water treated at this station will make 1,259,617 cubic meters of water available to irrigators in accordance with the concession for the use of purified water granted by the Segura Hydrographic Confederation.

The action includes the construction of a reception basin of 4,271 cubic meters, a pumping station and the pipelines necessary for the transportation of the waters to the community of beneficiary irrigators.

The budget of the investment amounts to a total of 539,111 euros.

The Ministry will subsidize the total investment with a contribution of 269,555 euros, co-financed by the European Union, through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).

The net irrigable area of ​​the Community of Irrigators Water inheritance of Alguazas is of 1,300 hectares, located in the municipal terms of Alguazas, Ceutí and Archena, dedicated mainly to the cultivation of fruit trees of citrus and bone.

The irrigation community consists of a total of 1,628 community members.
