The Alguazas sewage plant will have an innovative prototype that will maximize biogas production. In addition, the European project Life Anadry intends to treat a part of the sludge for use in agriculture (12/02/2017)

The Alguazas wastewater treatment plant will have an innovative prototype that will maximize biogas production, through the Life Anadry (Dry Anaerobic digestion as an alternative management and treatment solution for sewage sludge) project, co-financed by the European Union and led by The company Depuración de Aguas del Mediterráneo (DAM), which has completed the construction, transport and installation of this prototype.

The project develops technology on a semi-industrial scale for the digestion of dehydrated sludge from the wastewater treatment plant, resulting in biogas, which will be used to produce electrical energy and heat, as well as a sludge suitable for use in agriculture as an organic amendment .

The project involves the Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Region of Murcia (ESAMUR), which is attached to the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment, the Center for Studies and Technical Research (Ceit-IK4), the Company Engineering and Renewable Developments (INDEREN) and Euro-Mediterranean Information System on Know-how in the Water Sector (SEMIDE).
