It is the first action of the comprehensive reform of the road, which has a budget of 1.1 million euros
The Ministry of Development and Infrastructure has received offers from 63 companies interested in carrying out the construction of the new roundabout on road RM-531, linking Alguazas with the municipality of Campos del Rio and which is the first phase of renewal of the via.
These works have a bidding budget of 452,600 euros.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Pedro Rivera, stressed that the future roundabout "will improve the regulation of traffic on this road and increase the safety of drivers who circulate every day through this intersection, which has 440,000 annual trips."
He emphasized that this action "will allow one of the historical claims of the citizens of Alguazas to value the communications of the locality", as it is "one of the most important routes for the municipality of Alguazas and its growth socioeconomic".
Once the deadline for submission of bids, the Board of Contract of the Ministry will evaluate the bids and make a proposal for the award of the works, who must submit the necessary documentation to formalize the contract.
The next step will be the commissioning of the works a month later from the signing of the contract.
The works will last for a period of six months and will consist of the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of the RM-531 that gives access to the industrial estate El Cortijo, the municipal soccer field and the tanatory, 14.5.
The roundabout will have a lane of eight meters and will have an outer diameter of 40 meters and an inner diameter of 24 meters with a sidewalk of one meter wide.
For this, the preparation of an esplanade, the demolition of existing sidewalks and firm, the asphalting, the execution of the islets and the renovation of the vertical and horizontal signage will be carried out.
Also, 23 LED lights will be installed in the roundabout and islets to provide a better visualization at the intersection and encourage energy saving, as well as placing a traffic light for pedestrians with a push button with the objective of reinforcing the safety of students who access Daily to CES Vega Media.
More improvements on the road
The construction of the roundabout is the first phase of the works that the regional government plans to carry out to improve and rehabilitate the RM-531 road.
These actions have an allocation in the budgets of the Autonomous Community of 1,116,830 euros for this year.
It is expected to operate in a total stretch of 8.2 kilometers, between kilometers 6.41 and 14.61, which run through the municipalities of Campos del Río and Alguazas.
The work is based on the extension of the road, which will have five to eight meters, elimination of curves and extension of its radius in sections with a winding path.
The sanitation of the current firm, improvement of the drainage system, ditches and works of factory and the renovation of the horizontal and vertical signage, are other of the actions foreseen for which the management of the land by the consistories.
