The Alguazas treatment plant will make available to irrigators more than one million cubic meters of reclaimed water (27/11/2017)

Francisco Jódar announces that 200,000 euros will be allocated to the Alguazas plant to improve its efficiency, through the installation of photovoltaic energy

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (EDAR) of Alguazas will make 1,220,571 cubic meters of reclaimed water available to irrigators in the area, once the catchment works that are in the execution phase are completed.

The current concessionaires of the plant are the irrigating community of Inheritance of Agua de Alguazas and Agrícola El Palmito, which have an area of 1,521 hectares.

This volume of water will be of excellent quality since the plant, built in 2014 and with capacity to serve a population of 40,000 inhabitants, already has tertiary treatment.

The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Francisco Jódar, visited the facility today and held a meeting with irrigators who recalled that the Regional Government's Investment Plan will allocate 12 million euros over the next three years to provide tertiary treatment to those plants that require it.

Jódar explained that "we are contributing to the fact that the water that we put at the disposal of the farmers, and also the one that is destined to the maintenance of the channels of the rivers, is of greater quality".

The counselor stressed that "thanks to this commitment from the regional executive, will go from the current 65 percent of treatment plants that currently have this treatment to 85 percent, which will result in having more advanced plants with excellent quality parameters."

In addition, the Minister of Water announced the investment of 200,000 euros in the EDAR Alguazas to increase the energy efficiency of it and said that "our goal is to improve all treatment plants in the region, make them more efficient and, thereby, protect environment".

Until 2019, the regional government will allocate two million euros in 20 municipalities in the region with the aim of saving energy costs in the operation of each plant, through the installation of photovoltaic energy.
