Murcia Parliamentarians of the Cadiz Parliament meet in the Old Tower Alguazas (30/10/2013)

A photo exhibition and documentary on the iconic medieval bastion reflected until the November 4 the work of the 10 parliamentarians from the region who participated in the drafting of the 1812 Constitution

"Members of Murcia in the Cortes of Cadiz. Region of Murcia and the Constitution of 1812" is the title of the exhibition that, as a result of the initiative of the Regional Assembly and the Academia Alfonso X El Sabio, is displayed to 4 November in the Old Tower Alguazas locals and visitors.

Composed by an illustrative list of images and documents, this exhibition reflects the historical period in which the 1812 Constitution was forged and the work of the 10 parliamentary Murcia who took part in the genesis of the first Constitution of the history of Spain that consolidated the current parliamentary system with subsequent consecration, among other prerogatives of national sovereignty, the unity of the country, civil rights or the confessional state.

This exhibition, one of the far-reaching events scheduled in the locality for this fall by the Department of Culture of the city council, is plotted as primary goal to convey to the public the great symbolism with the Cortes of Cadiz because this city was the only mainland who resisted the invasion of the Napoleonic troops in 1808, which placed the parliament in which rested the legitimacy of the Spanish people.

The sample which houses the iconic medieval bastion alguaceño, which opened with numerous public and municipal authorities on the afternoon of Sunday, October 27, with a conference about by the BA in History and a retired teacher José Miguel Matencio Pons, collects photographs and facsimiles in the role played by prominent figures of that time and his task in the political evolution of Spain's decision making time.
