Alguazas City Council began a public campaign on the collection of dog excrement in the street (05/01/2015)

The Department of Environment publishes an information and awareness brochure for dog owners to remove dirt from the streets

"Alguazas, clean as your home" is the motto with which the Department of Environment of the local council has launched a public awareness campaign that targets dog owners, aims to influence their duties and responsibilities in to collect the droppings of animals on public roads towards preventing the proliferation of dirt especially in areas like walks, parks and gardens.

The initiative, based on the edition of leaflets, a Decalogue of duties collected for dog owners also intended to remind the existence of canine lavatories or "pipicanes" in the town and also that the City of Alguazas has an Ordinance possession of pets and pet and specifications with regard to the obligations of vaccination, hygiene and health care and maintenance of pets and their walk down the street with leash and collar, the need for health card and registration in the Municipal Census of Pets, the reasons why a homeowner can be sanctioned, as the lack of muzzle microchip or if the animal requires, bear the unrestrained animal or collect their droppings , as rated penalties that have (mild, severe or very severe) may result in fines ranging from 300 to 15,000 euros (quantity latter that those homeowners with animals of breeds classified as potentially dangerous without muzzles apply or without strap down the street).

Alguazas unveils its first Pipican in San Rafael Park

Dog owners can enjoy Alguazas and the first site designed especially for these animals.

And the City Council has commissioned to build in the Park San Rafael a fenced enclosure 210 meters to host a "Pipican", or what is the same, a system for collecting dog excrement very useful to be provided with device hose with running water, proper drainage and sewer connections to ensure disposal of such waste, with the primary advantage of being out of reach of children or adults who frequent public spaces.

In this "Pipican", built by municipal workers Works and Services recycled materials, will soon install two in the parks of the Constitution and the Water of alguaceña population.

These infrastructures are designed to be fitted with bins designed to deposit dog excrement and dimensions optimized to include two tunnels as accessories, wheel and stockade for recreation and enjoyment of pets.

Cleaning and maintenance of these canines spaces will have a daily basis by City staff and concesioanria alguaceño basic services company CESPA

With the installation of these parks "Pipican" is expected to disappear so common and unpleasant scenes streets and corners, trees, doors, wheels and so full of urine and feces and avoid even the use of sulfur to chase the dogs .
