The campaign tries to make residents aware that animals must be microchipped.

The Local Police will control that the neighbors comply with the rules.Today the Councilor for Animal Welfare of the Alguazas City Council, Jesús Gomariz Puerta, presented the “Put the Chip” campaign in the Alguazas City Council, together with the Inspector-Chief of the Local Police, Francisco Pellicer and the president of the local protector ANERPA , Javier Redollar. The council tries with this campaign to educate animal owners so that they comply with the obligations of identification and census of dogs, cats and ferrets.

Failure to comply with this obligation can lead to fines of up to 1,500 euros, so the Local Police will make a special control and surveillance. The campaign has had the participation of the two veterinary clinics of the municipality, "Centro Veterinario Mundo Animal" and "Centro Veterinario del Carmen", which offer residents a fixed price for which they carry out identification by microchip and they will be in charge of carrying out on behalf of the neighbor the census procedures in the municipal registry to avoid trips to the City Council and expedite the procedures. The Councilor for Animal Welfare, Jesús Gomariz, stated that "identifying animals will lead to less animal abandonment and a much easier search in case our dog gets lost."
