The alguaceños expressed its repudiation of violence against women on the International Day (25/11/2010)

The Director General of Prevention of Violence and Juvenile Reform, Teresa Moreno, read the manifesto in Alguazas.

The Department of Equality has organized town hall today Alguazas reading the manifesto against gender violence as a culmination of the activities of the Third Campaign of awareness and prevention of gender violence has been done in the municipality.

Reading the manifesto coincides with the celebration of International Day Against Violence Against Women.

Among those attending the House of Culture were Alguazas Mayor, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, the Councillor for Equality, Dori Bermudez, Director General of Prevention of Violence and Juvenile Reform, Teresa Moreno, and several team members Municipal Government.

The event started with the welcome assistance from the Councillor for Equality.

To which followed the reading of the manifesto by Teresa Moreno.

Also, Teresa Moreno said that "on November 25 should be a day for reflection and to find ways to solve this problem definitively."

In this regard he added that it is also "a time to pay our heartfelt tribute to the many women this year and previous years have lost their lives as a result of abuse by their partners or are partners."

"To them we dedicate this day and they are committed to building a more just and united world in which there are no relations of power or domination of men over women," said Teresa Moreno.

Interventions

After reading the manifesto students from schools in the county have participated in the act.

So the students of the College of Education and Primary (CEIP) Our Lady of Mount Caramel have contributed to the reading of six texts.

In addition, students of the College of Education and Primary (CEIP) Monte Anaor have done a poetry reading.

Also the youth of the Professional Qualification Program (IPPP) have proceeded to read a manifesto that have made themselves.

Students of the Institute of Secondary Education (IES) Villa de Alguazas have put forward a manifesto against gender violence.

Likewise, the Center for Secondary Education (CES) Vega Media have proceeded to read a letter.

Also all the students took their statements accompanied by signs that they have prepared for the occasion.

To conclude the presentations, the Mayor has made an intervention expressing their rejection towards GBV.

José Antonio Fernández Lladó, has welcomed the presence at the event to the audience "for his role in the development of this act."

At the same time wanted to delve into the "awareness of youth is the future of tomorrow so they are trained and informed about this and know how to act."

Finally, the Mayor recalled the death toll from violence against women during 2010, amounting to 64, which described them as "unjust, useless, irrational."

He also expressed his hope that every November 25th we meet to celebrate "that there have been no deaths of domestic violence," he said.

To conclude the ceremony gave way to the representation performance of "The Story of what happens" by the group Autopia.
