Within the celebrations of International Women's Day organized by the Department of Equality Alguazas City Council to be held on 8 March, representatives of women associations Alguazas, Murcia and women's centers of Murcia city, have gathered in Alguazas to participate at the "Women of the Way".

This initiative has brought together more than fifty women who have had the opportunity to meet part of the artistic heritage and tourist attractions of the municipality, and exchange experiences.

This activity is organized by the Tourist Consortium of the Northwest Greenway and the municipalities of Alguazas, Murcia, Albudeite, Bullas, Campos del Rio, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegin and Mula.

Alguazas Mayor Jose Antonio Fernandez Lladó, the Councillor for Equality, Maria Dolores Hernandez Garcia, and Tourism, Isabel Zamora Palacios, together with the Councillor for Equality Policy and Development Cooperation of the Municipality of Murcia, Alicia Barquero and the manager Consortium of the Northwest Greenway, Juan Soria, have welcomed the participants at a reception held in the Meeting Room of City Hall.

Also in attendance was Councillor for Sports, Joaquín López Verdú.

At this meeting were representatives of the Association of Women Alguazas, the Association of Widows "La Milagrosa" Espinardo, Separate Catholic Women Association of Murcia and the Centre for Women "Cemcar" barrio del Carmen, also from Murcia city also Tedis Association for the social integration of disabled people in Molina de Segura.

Upon receipt in the session, the attendees visited the parish church of San Onofre, where students work the Workshop on the Greenway module Northwest Tourism Promotion and Visitor information, have served as tour guides.

After learning the characteristics and history of the temple, the women's group moved to the section of the Greenway that runs through the township.

The participants performed Greenway gift exchange and the Mayor of Alguazas accompanied by the manager of the Consortium of the Northwest Greenway, unveiled a plaque commemorating the first meeting of the association "Women on the Way".

The activities ended with the planting of several trees, donated by the foundation Cajamar, next to the plaque that remembers the celebration of this day.
