Alguazas taunts celebrates its Patron Saint Anton (24/01/2013)

In the context of a Eucharist held in the chapel of the parish,

attended by many residents

The residents of the hamlet of Alguazas taunts lived their big day this past Saturday, January 19th, to celebrate with a Mass at St. Anthony his pattern.

As tradition, the liturgical ceremony and have turned on the festivity of this population center alguaceño, officiated by the parish priest of San Onofre municipality, Carlos Vicente Molina Lopez and bringing together many residents and authorities local led by Mayor-President, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, was the blessing of bread rusks and pets brought for the occasion by their owners to the chapel dedicated to the Holy Egyptian hermit.

Note that taunts comes to be defined as a village north of the town of Alguazas, the least populated of the town (with 183 inhabitants as of today) and very close to the limit of population Ceutí.

Part of its agricultural land is known as the Virgin Soto, fully dedicated to irrigated agriculture by, among other things, to the branches of the canal passing through its eastern side.

The wheel of the salt pans and the aqueduct of 'Host', are part of the historical heritage of this district.

This treadmill is housed in the channel of the Acequia Mayor of Alguazas and once served to remove the water from the ditch to later distribute, through a small aqueduct, the irrigated land in the area, located on the right bank of the river Segura.

The wheel lost its importance and became obsolete, causing its deterioration, but in 2008 Alguazas City Council, with technical and financial collaboration of the Regional Government, restored both the treadmill and the aqueduct.

We also find in the waterwheel taunts Campóo I, one of the thirteen wells that we can find walking around the Vega Media.

It is a metal waterwheel, which over the years has been deteriorating and is currently awaiting restoration.

Within the urban core of the taunts, the most representative is the Ermita de San Antón in whose square is two huge eucalyptus and pepper false.

This chapel was built in the last third of the twentieth century.
