Presentation of the poster for the Festivities 2009 (01/06/2009)

On Saturday May 30 saw the presentation of the poster for the 2009 Patron Alguazas.

The event, chaired by the Mayor of Alguazas, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, was attended by the Councillor of Celebration, Silvia Ruiz, members of the Team, representatives of municipal associations and neighbors.

The poster for the 2009 Patron is the work of painter Francisco Javier Lorente Ortega, born in 1964 in San Ginés de la Jara, Cartagena.

Pupil of the painter Enrique Gabriel Navarro, studied painting at the School of Arts and Crafts Murcia, and Letters at the University of Murcia.

Francisco Javier Lorente is a photographer, painter, poster artist and art teacher since 1987.

His extensive resume reflects more than 30 awards in painting competitions, among which is the contest I Outdoor Painting, organized by the Department of Culture in 2008 and won with a work that reflects the view from Torre Vieja Acequia Mayor.

Precisely this work is chosen to illustrate the poster for this year.

Silvia Ruiz briefed those present programming for these Festivities, which begin Friday, June 5 with the election of the Queen of the Festival 2009.

On Saturday there will be the Gala Queen's Coronation and reading the Proclamation by the Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte.

Councillor stressed acts that are consolidated into this holiday season: the Bicialguazas celebrating its twelfth year, the National Folk Festival in its fourteenth edition, the II Pilgrimage in honor of San Antonio, the Awards Peach and Apricot sporting competitions and more traditional Procession of the Patron Saints, San Onofre and San Antonio, with the subsequent San Antonio Dance.

For its part, the mayor, noted the strong collaboration of local associations and clubs which are actively involved in the development of events.

José Antonio Fernández Lladó mentioned the great effort made by the Department of Celebrations for the preparation of a program of festivities in line with the economic situation we live.

The 2009 Festival Program distributed on 3 and 4 June for all homes in the area.
