About thirty women immigrants, mostly from North African origin, Latin American and Nigerian, have participated since last January 8 to 31 March in a project that aims to promote social and cultural integration of immigrant female population.
All of them have today received a visit from the Councillor for Social Services, Dori Bermudez, who thanked them for their participation in this workshop and encouraged attendees to participate in the local social activity.
This project is being developed in the town thanks to a collaboration agreement signed between the City of Alguazas, through the Department of Social Services, and Ecca Radio Foundation.
This Foundation has been working in the Region of Murcia over 40 years to encourage integration, training and development of minority sectors of the population.
The objectives of the project, which is being conducted in Alguazas, are to know what barriers are immigrant women to participate in the cultural life of the town and create tools for their integration and family easier.
To date there have been four days, which have taken place in the College of Our Lady of Mount Caramel on Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 hours.
They have developed basic skills workshops, health education, motivation and social skills or prevention of gender violence, among others.
Among the activities will run until March 31 are planned some visits to cultural centers and women.
Also, if this activity is extended further in time, is expected to make intercultural encounters which will be a food contest, exhibition of traditional costumes, folk dances, debates and Video-Forum.
